About Us

“Where all generations encounter Christ, experience God’s grace, and are empowered by the Holy Spirit to go forth in faith.”

Thank you for your consideration in joining us on a journey of faith formation and family enrichment! No matter your age, race, or income level, we have a program designed for you. Our programs run year-round! We hope that you will be one of our 750 residential summer campers, 700 day campers, 300 family campers, or 2,500 retreat participants!

As you consider lifting up your children, grandchildren, or yourself with an experience in outdoor ministry, you can know that especially now during the pandemic, Sugar Creek will continue to be:
Safe…

Safety is our top priority. Rigorous background checks and intense training ensure that our summer staff members are ready to respond to emergencies. Our concrete storm shelter and on-site registered nurse provide additional peace of mind. We meet and exceed hundreds of safety and program quality standards of the American Camping Association.

Christ-Centered…

Faith formation at camp is not through rigid instruction or presentation. Rather, it is a way of life lived out in holy play, caring conversations, and intentional time in God’s beautiful creation. Our faith expressions include worship and Bible study, and go beyond, permeating every aspect of the camp experience.

Fun…

Our programs are full of age-appropriate activities, games, and songs. Campers participate in “holy play” with friends. Younger campers may enjoy creek stomping, parachute games, camp outs, and pony rides while the older campers canoe the Mississippi, have epic “Olympics” on the beach, and play Ultimate Frisbee.

Small group focused…

Effective ministries are built around the philosophy that young people learn and grow best in small groups. Your child will be with 6-8 other campers and one counselor for most activities, allowing for close personal relationships and individual attention.

A partnership with your congregation…

Faith is lifelong. Community is necessary for ongoing faith formation – this happens in families and your local churches. Sugar Creek programs help campers grow in relationship with God while at camp. A camp experience also helps campers develop more ownership and familiarity with the life and ministry of their home congregations. Sugar Creek is here to serve you through 15+ unique summer Bible camp programs, all focused on long-term encouragement of our campers! During the school year we can also Winter Fun Days or youth retreats, or book your own retreat! Our ministry is designed to support the ministry of your congregation and your home!

Outdoors!

Children need lots of quality time outside. At Sugar Creek youth get in touch with God’s creation in ways that inspire awe, respect, and curiosity! Meals, Bible studies, worship, and fun activities all happen in God’s beautiful wilderness, across a vast and wonderful camp property, with 100% supervision by well-trained youth ministry staff.
